I specialize in weight management and fertility nutrition by providing compassionate, high-quality nutrition coaching to individuals and couples via phone, online or in-person visits. By keeping the core philosophy centered on healing through nutrition, TOGETHER, we will develop a tailored plan to restore homeostasis, improve desired fertility outcomes, and/or regain hormone control.
As a Registered Dietitian I have the skills and the know-how (with an extra dose of empathy) to give you the support you need to get the results you want.
Having battled infertility for many years, I am no stranger to the sadness, frustration, and hopelessness the road to conception can be. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in 2013 and in 2019 I suffered my first miscarriage. My journey is similar to many other women. If you have visited my page, and too, have been struggling to become a parent, HERE IS MY PLEDGE TO YOU: I will do everything in my power to help you become a parent. You are not alone and I will not allow infertility to define you.
"My husband and I first started working with Laura six months ago after a failed IVF cycle. It has been such a pleasure working with her through out our journey. She created a detailed nutritional plan that was specific to my needs and has adjusted it along the way as I progress in my cycle. Knowing that she has been through this herself, gave me confidence that she was offering the best advice and support to make our second cycle as successful as possible. I believe her nutritional guidance has played a major part in us having a more positive outcome this time around.
It isn't easy to stick to a new diet/nutritional plan, but knowing that it will increase our chances of welcoming a baby into our family has given me the motivation needed to stick with it. From the beginning Laura has been there to offer her support, checking in to see how things are going and is always there to answer any questions we have. We cannot thank Laura enough for all that she has done and would recommend her to anyone dealing with infertility or looking to embark on a healthier lifestyle."
“I worked with Laura before my IVF cycle. Laura gave me lots of very helpful information to give my body the very best nutrients it needed to help my egg quality. Her instructions were realistic, easy to follow, evidenced based and she was always available for questions. I can’t recommend her enough. Thank you for your help in our journey Laura!”
"I got connected with Laura at the beginning of my first cycle. As luck would have it, one of my best friends is a renal dietitian and she called me one day saying she had come across Laura’s Instagram page. We had no idea there was such thing as an IVF dietitian and were excited to talk to Laura to learn more. The timing was great as my husband and I were on day 1 of injections for our first egg retrieval and we wanted to do everything we could to improve our chances of success.
My first chat with Laura was over the phone. I went through my story and she listened, empathized, and made me feel like everything was going to be ok. It felt like I was talking to a friend. Then, we got down to business. Typically, Laura has more lead time when preparing a client for a cycle, so she was at a bit of a disadvantage since we were already underway. With the egg retrieval just a week away, Laura’s recommendations were focused on things that would be easy to implement without stressing me out, including slight dietary changes and a trip to the health market for some supplements. I felt motivated after the conversation and my focus started to shift from being afraid of the shots, to being sure I was eating my berries every day 😊.
When the results of our first cycle came in, we were overall a bit disappointed. We had retrieved 14 eggs and had high hopes throughout fertilization and PGS testing, only to end up with one 3BA embryo. A lot of our loss was in the PGS stage. One of the supplements we were on was intended to help with this problem, but we were not on it long enough for it to really take effect.
Nonetheless, you start asking yourself, what’s genetically wrong with us? What did we do wrong? What the heck is 3BA? Is that bad? It was our first round and we didn’t really know what to expect, but we knew that in a perfect world we would have two kids and so that meant another cycle would be necessary. Coming off the hormones and the highs and lows of “hurry up and wait”, it was a little challenging to be positive. Laura, however, was always a source of positivity. She would always reassure me that things would be ok and the next cycle would be better since we would have more time to prepare.
From that meeting forward, I felt like I had the best of both worlds. I had my family/friend support system, but I also had my very own IVF dietitian with first-hand knowledge following me every step of the way – a unicorn, you might say. I never felt embarrassed asking Laura questions, even uncomfortable ones. We were friends, and she was the smart friend! Laura always remembered important dates in my cycles and would check on me. She motivated me through MyFitnessPal and held me accountable through email/text when I decided to take an unexpected hiatus from MyFitnessPal. She really was there every step of the way and that was priceless for me.
Long story short (not really), we followed Laura’s recommendations for the four months leading up to our second egg retrieval and the two months leading up to our first frozen embryo transfer, and the results were striking. We now have enough high-quality embryos to hopefully never need another egg retrieval, and our FET was successful on the first try. Today, my husband and I are 9 weeks along with our first baby and I know for a fact it is because of Laura’s guidance and commitment to us. She has set out to help others with fertility issues and she is doing just that. She is making a difference. I would highly recommend her to anyone experiencing fertility issues. I promise you won’t be disappointed."
